The launch came after Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced at F8 conference that Instagram users will start using video chat feature on its app. Instagram has grown to become one of the most used social application with more than one billion downloads. If you want to get started with Video Chat on Instagram then you follow these simple steps

– First of all, you have to download the latest version of the Instagram app on iOS or Android, therefore you need to visit Google play store and Apple store respectively.
– If you are not using the latest version of the Instagram app then you need to update the one you have on your phone
– Then click open the app, after that go to your Instagram Direct by either swiping left or clicking on the arrow icon in the top-right corner of your profile.
– To get started you have t open a message thread with someone you want to Video Chat with
– You can do that by clicking on the “+” icon in the top-right of your inbox and typing a username
– Go to the message thread, when you are there then you have to click on the new camera icon on the top-right corner, and a Video Chat will request (and ring) will be sent to your friend’s phone.
– If there’s more than one person in the Instagram Direct thread, tapping the camera icon will call everyone in the thread.
– Boom!!! you will start video chat with your friends, loved ones, followers or even family member.

ii. Once you commence your group video chat then add more friends or followers and the more people join your call, the screen will expand and divide so you can see everyone that you’re chatting with.
iii. But if you’re part of a group thread on Instagram Direct and there’s an active Video Chat going on in your group which you want to join, then you can do that by
locating the camera icon in the top-right corner of your thread and click on the camera icon to join in on the fun!
iv. In terms of time or duration, there is no time limit to your calls on Video Chat, you can make the video call as long as you want.

You have to know that you can only Video Chat with People who are active ‘DMing’ on Instagram Video Chat is only available with people you have an active Instagram Direct thread with. So if you have follower(s) that you have not chatted with through Instagram. The Instagram Direct message then it will be impossible for you or the person to call you. Another thing that will make someone not to video chat with you or join your video chat is if you block someone on Instagram, it does not matter if you’ve messaged them in the past.
